So my tip, check the name of your hair brand, and start selling all over the world!

What’s in a name?

A lot! Especially in the hair business a good name for your hair brand or shop is the base for a successful business.
To pick a name is not just a fun thing to do. To select the name for your company must be at the core of your marketing effort. Your ideal client will identify herself with you and your name. Nobody wants to buy hair at a shop called “The Iron Lady”.
Your brand name must please your audience so they will remember your name, even if they did not buy from you the first time, they visited your store.

4 Steps to find the best hair brand name

What you need is a hair brand name that is easy to remember and makes your client feel good.

1 Use your imagination.

To start you must find a moment of the week, where you can leave the day to day rush behind you. Use the creative part of your brains and think about all possible names your business stands for. Any name will do, and there are only two rules. The first rule is to make sure you take note of all the names that pooped up in your brain and the other rule is, no other rules. Sit back and go for it! You can even invite some friends to help you thinking about these names for your hair brand.

2 Go to the gym or have swim

Make sure, after you finished the creative work, you do anything possible not to think about your hair brand. Have a swim, go ride a bike or go to the gym. Your brain will start to work to select the best names for you. In a natural way, your brains will invent even better names, but only if you are not thinking about it.

3 Test the name

Now you must make a list of the 10 best names you came up with. No need to order the names, because you will have to run a small test.

Read the names and put a smiley next to the name if:

– The name evokes a positive brand experience
– The name is meaningful, so your clients will understand what the name is about (your hair!)
– Will the name help to visualize your hair and the need of the client? This is important because this will glue the name in the client’s memory
– Will then name lead to emotions with your audience.

But, cross it out when the name:

– Looks like a typo
– Sounds or looks very like the brand of the competition
– Is hard to pronounce
– Is not expressing any ambition

Analyse the list of names and now you will have a smaller number of possible names.

4 Check with your chamber of commerce

The last step is to check if your name is not already used. You do not want to have ordered 1000+ gorgeous designers bags for the hair to find out the local butcher has the same brand name.
